Ordering and shipping
Your Cliphut shelf will be carefully prepared for you after you place your order. Depending on the product, collection, and current order volume, it may take up to 60 business days before we can ship your order. Within Germany, many orders arrive sooner; for deliveries to other countries, shipping times may vary.
Please note that Sundays and holidays do not count as business days. During periods of high order volume, such as around sales events or before Christmas, processing may take a little longer. We keep the process as clear and reliable as possible and will notify you as soon as your package is on its way.
Yes. As soon as your order has been shipped, we’ll send you an email with a tracking number and a link to track your shipment. You can use this link to check the current status of your delivery directly with the shipping carrier.
Shipping within Germany is free. For deliveries to other countries, shipping costs will be calculated at checkout. There, you’ll see a clear breakdown of the costs for your destination country before you complete your order.
If you’d like to make any changes after placing your order, please email us as soon as possible at hello@cliphut.org. As long as your order hasn’t yet entered the final preparation stage or been shipped, we’ll be happy to see if an adjustment is possible. Please note that changes aren’t always possible, especially for custom-configured Pure furniture, since these items are made to order based on your specific selections.
Collections, Configurator, and Planning
Cliphut is based on a single system but offers two distinct design approaches. The Playful Collection is open, vibrant, and rhythmic. It is ideal for anyone looking for an expressive modular shelving system who enjoys working with colors, heights, and open spaces.
The Pure Collection is more understated and serene. It features seamless transitions, clean lines, and a focused presence in the room. Many Pure pieces can be individually configured and are particularly well-suited for spaces where order, precision, and a restrained design language are important.
Playful:
- Open, colorful, visibly modular
- Suitable for: Living rooms, children’s rooms, workspaces, free combinations
Pure:
- Calm, flat, minimalist
- Suitable for: Hallways, bedrooms, dressing rooms, living rooms, focused living areas
If you're looking for an open shelving system that brings color and movement to a room, Playful is a great fit for you. If you're looking for a more understated piece of furniture with clean surfaces, doors, or a precise silhouette, Pure is probably the better choice.
Both collections are based on the same core idea: furniture shouldn't be designed for just a single moment, but should evolve along with your home. You can expand Cliphut, rearrange it, and adapt it to a different room when you move.
With the Pure Configurator, you can design your own custom Cliphut furniture. You choose the dimensions, layout, and finish so that the shelving system fits your space and meets your needs. The configurator is especially helpful if you’re looking for a shelf, coat rack, or sideboard that’s not only decorative but also serves a practical purpose in your daily life.
Cliphut is a modular system, not a traditional custom-built cabinet. However, thanks to its modular design and the Pure configurator, you can tailor your furniture very precisely to your space. The result is a customizable shelving system that is better suited to your needs than a fixed, standard piece of furniture.
Yes. That’s exactly what Cliphut was designed for. You can expand, reconfigure, or rebuild your modular shelving unit into a new layout. If your space changes, you don’t have to replace your furniture. It can adapt, grow, and take on a new function.
Setup, Teardown, and Safety
Cliphut is a shelving system that can be assembled without tools. When assembling it, use the included instructions and take your time going through the steps. The connections follow a clear logic and are repetitive, so you’ll quickly get the hang of the system.
Make sure to insert all parts straight into one another so that nothing gets stuck at an angle. The clips should protrude fully from the horizontal elements and separate cleanly after insertion. If a part gets stuck, carefully return it to its original position and reinsert it. This protects the clips and guide tabs and maintains the system’s precision.
You don't need any tools to assemble the shelf itself. The components are connected using a patented clip system. However, to secure it to the wall, you'll need the right screws and, depending on the wall material, appropriate wall anchors.
It’s best to take your Cliphut shelf apart in reverse order: piece by piece, working from top to bottom. For the vertical elements, squeeze the clip together and slowly pull the part out. Be sure to move the elements parallel to each other so they don’t get stuck.
If a part doesn’t come loose right away, don’t keep pulling with force. Put it back in place, realign it, and release the connection gently and evenly.
It’s best to assemble your Cliphut shelf where you plan to place it. If you want to move it, make sure all parts are properly secured and all clips are fully open. For larger pieces of furniture, you should have a second person help you.
Shelves taller than about 1.20 m should not be carried as a single unit. In this case, remove a few shelves and reassemble the unit at its new location. If you’re moving, we recommend completely disassembling the shelving system.
Yes. Like any freestanding shelf, a Cliphut shelf should be securely mounted to the wall to prevent tipping. This enhances safety in everyday life, especially in households with children, pets, or high-traffic areas.
Your Cliphut shelf includes anti-tip features that are built into the structure. To mount it on the wall, you’ll need the right screws and, depending on the wall material, appropriate wall anchors. Since walls can vary greatly in construction, you should always choose mounting hardware that’s suitable for your specific wall.
No. Cliphut shelves are not designed as floating wall shelves and have not been tested for hanging installation. We therefore recommend that you do not hang them directly on the wall. Use the system as a freestanding shelf and secure it additionally with the included anti-tip device.
Materials and Production
Cliphut shelves are made from high-quality wood-based material. More specifically, we use MDF, a medium-density fiberboard that meets European standards. The material is colored with organic pigments and forms the basis for the system’s clean, precise shape.
We deliberately refer to wood-based material rather than solid wood. This keeps the material description transparent and precise. At the same time, the wood-based material ensures a smooth surface, sturdy edges, and reliable craftsmanship for a durable modular shelving system.
No. Cliphut is not made of solid wood, but of high-quality wood-based material. Depending on the product, certain details may be made of solid wood; for example, the clothes rod on the Pure coat rack is made of solid spruce. However, the main structure of the shelving system is made of MDF.
This choice of material was made deliberately. It supports the system’s precise interlocking mechanism, its flat appearance, and its clean lines.
Your Cliphut shelf is made in a woodworking shop in Germany. The surfaces are then sanded and oiled by hand. The result is a piece of furniture that is designed with industrial precision but finished with artisanal care.
We source our wood-based panels from Portugal. The material we use is FSC- and PEFC-certified and comes from responsibly managed forests and controlled sources.
The shelves are made of FSC- and PEFC-certified MDF, which is dyed by the manufacturer using organic pigments. The surface finish is food-safe and contains 0% VOCs. This makes Cliphut ideal for living rooms, children’s rooms, workspaces, and other areas where material quality and durability are important.
Yes. All Cliphut shelves are treated with a food-safe wood oil. This protects the surface while preserving its natural, matte finish. As with any oiled material, you should avoid letting moisture sit on the surface and wipe up spills promptly.
Maintenance, Cleaning, and Repair
You can wipe down your shelf with a slightly damp cloth. The cloth should not be wet. If necessary, wipe it down with a dry cloth to ensure no moisture remains on the surface. Especially with ceramics, mugs, or freshly washed dishes, make sure the bottoms are completely dry before placing them on the shelf. Unglazed rims can still retain moisture and cause water spots.
If water or dirt gets on the surface, you should wipe it off as soon as possible. Start by using a dry cloth. For heavier soiling, you can use a slightly damp cloth and then wipe the area dry. If a stain doesn’t completely disappear, you can rotate, swap, or replace individual elements in many Cliphut configurations. In this case, feel free to email us at hello@cliphut.org. We’ll work with you to determine if a replacement part is necessary.
Minor signs of wear can often be corrected by repositioning individual components. Since Cliphut has a modular design, you can swap or rotate specific parts within your shelf. If a component is more severely damaged, please contact us at hello@cliphut.org. We will check to see if a suitable replacement part is available.
In many cases, this is possible. If you need a replacement part, an extension, or an additional component, please send us a message with your order number and, if possible, a photo of the part in question. This will help us determine which part you need more quickly.
Everyday use
Cliphut is suitable for many living spaces: as a shelf in the living room, as an organizational system in the home office, as a shelf in the children’s room, as a coat rack in the entryway, or as a side table in the bedroom. Thanks to its modular design, the system can serve various functions and adapt to new spaces.
Yes, Cliphut can also be used in a child's room. It is important that the shelf is assembled correctly and secured to the wall using the included anti-tip device. As with all furniture in a child's room, you should check regularly to make sure all joints are tight and the furniture is stable.
Cliphut is designed for everyday use in the living room: it’s perfect for storing books, toys, dishes, clothing, home decor, and many other items. Be sure to distribute the weight evenly and place heavy items on the lower shelves whenever possible. This will keep the shelving system stable and balanced.
Yes. That’s one of the key advantages of a modular shelving system. You can take Cliphut apart, transport it, and reassemble it in a new room. This way, the furniture isn’t tied to a single floor plan but can evolve along with your home.
